Should I move out.... or not?

I will be starting college in the fall and Im thinking of getting an apartment. All of my friends are either going to school out of state or either not moving out yet. That means if I got a campus apartment, they would match me up with another student. Have you ever had experience with this? Im a nice person, Im just shy sometimes. I don't have many friends also, so i think this might be a good opportunity to make new friends. Do you think my room mate and I would become friends or just be like acquaintances that just live together? Im also worried I'll get stuck with someone like a freaky goth person or a druggie...... (which there isn't a good chance of, there are fairly nice and decent apartments) what do you think?
